As adept with contemporary-folk styles as with traditional repertoire, Anne Price’s latest CD - & her 1st with Village Records! – is a veritable model of folk purity. As a 30+ year veteran of the fabled NYC Folk scene, Anne tackles such contemporary giants as Kate Wolf (The Trumpet Vine), Janis Ian (My Autobiography) & Jean Ritchie (Black Waters) with the same masterful interpretive skills as she brings to traditional songs (e.g., The Keys of Canterbury, Bury Me Not on the Lone Prairie). Her cover of Billy Bragg & Wilco’s (Mermaid Avenue) Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key is particularly effective. Whether performed a capella or with a small combo, the 15 songs on ‘A Few More Miles To Go’ add up to an excellent representation of folk’s evolving heritage. Anne Price’s 4th CD may end up being your 1st by her, but probably not your last. LISTEN
