They certainly are back, but not the way you might remember them. They’ve dropped the pop thing and have circled back to their earlier harmony based country rock sound. Add to that an edge that their earlier material didn’t showcase too often and you have essentially a new sound from an old band. For this outing they cover Neil Young, Shooter Jennings, Jack White and even John Lee Hooker among others. Don’t think this is a bunch of old men trying to establish some street cred. This is a fully fleshed out album by a group looking forward. EMI
