I guess you could call what he does sort of a “desert country.” It’s not quite folk, and certainly not full blown country. Instead it’s that dusty area between a singer songwriter who pays more attention to melody and song structure than some of the newer folk acts. Using a confessional tone that reminds us of an early Jackson Browne, Olson is able to articulate the world he lives in in such a way that we feel like we’re standing right next to him while he spins his tales.
