Although this wasn’t the beginning of his solo work, it was the beginning of him finding the sound that he would use as the bedrock of his long career. Borrowing from his idol Georgie Fame, Scaggs moved toward a blue eyed soul sound that he would come to perfect. This Glyn Johns produced debut for Columbia was the perfect summer record for 1971. Not quite as slick as later recordings, and bit more blues infused than most, it proved to be a worthy starting point. This remastered edition is augmented with four bonus cuts featuring some different mono mixes. Friday Music
